New Rules for the New Economy
by Kevin Kelly

Mini-review by Jim Young

Each year I select a book that represents my top choice for that year.  Earlier in the year, it would have been Guy Kawasaki's book, "Rules for Revolutionaries," a truly valuable book.

However, in August 1999, I completed "New Rules for the New Economy," and I am certain that this book will be my top choice for 1999,  Kelly points out that we are driving toward an emerging new economic order having three distinguishing characteristics:  It is global.  It favors intangible things such as ideas and information. And it is intensely interlinked.

In the book, he lays out ten fundamental principles that are hardwired and that will apply to all businesses and industries in this new economy.  The book devotes a chapter to each principle.  Each chapter ends with a series of strategies that can be implemented by an individual or an organization.

"New Rules for the New Economy" is an immensely important book.  Get it.  Read it.  Practice it!
