The 500 Year Delta
by Jim Taylor & Watts Wacker

Mini-review by Jim Young

Subtitled "What Happens After What Comes Next," this book is about the near-term and long-term future of business. It is, most of all, a book about change. I found the book, although somewhat unevenly written, thought-provoking and filled with enough useful ideas to make it absolutely worth reading. The authors introduce a glossary of some seventy-five new words or terms, some of which will surely become widely used. Readers of this book will be able to say, "I saw it here first!"

The introduction to Part III, Unreal Realities, (pp. 151-160) catalogs an astounding number of changes that have occurred in the last two generations (since 1960). Part VI, The 500 Year Delta, (pp. 267-277) contains the authors predictions of what lies ahead in the next five hundred days, the next five hundred weeks, the next five hundred months and the next five hundred years.

Whether or not you believe that all these predictions will come to pass, they will definitely stimulate your thinking. "The 500 Year Delta" is worth owning just for these pages.
